Trolls, bots, dark ads and ‘fake news’ – how can the media stand up to misinformation in the modern media environment?

For the next Hacks/Hackers Dublin we’ll be delving into how the media can tackle misinformation with tech – we’ll be looking at how to use algorithms to spot fake news trends, expose misinformation campaigns through collaborative civic activism and fact-check false claims without amplifying propaganda or falling for the tactics of extreme political groups.

Who’s speaking?
Parsa Ghaffari, CEO of Aylien
Christine Bohan, Acting editor of The Journal.ie
Liz Carolan, Founder of Transparent Referendum Initiative
Ciaran O’Connor, Journalist with Storyful’s News intelligence team
